Honestly, most of my life.

I put in a lot of weight when I started uni in 2005, which coincidentally was when I turned 18 and started drinking (and developed an addiction to the play World of Warcraft.  And that weight gain continued until 2006 when I met this girl… and I fell head over heels for her.  I even started my first diet/lifestyle change attempt… lasted around 3 months, until she crushed my hopes of ever being with her, and I fell off the bandwagon.

After that I kind of stopped caring about how fat I was.  A couple of years went by… and I met this chick in 2008.  We dated for a couple of months and then broke up.  And then one of my best mates moved back from where he had moved for university and had also just had a breakup.  He and I spoke a bit about my weight and we decided to join the gym.  I started getting into it a little and had a good personal trainer, and that continued on for a bit until she decided to move jobs in early 2009.

After she left, I got flakey on gym and then every few months would get back into it, go for a couple of weeks and stop. Last year in January, I got back into it really well, lost 10kg and then got roped into a family holiday.  I was stuck driving for a day straight twice, and it screwed my gym scheduling.  It took my body a couple of days to recover from it, but I never got back into the gym.

Then came October last year… I was feeling miserable about my physical appearance and my wonderful flat mate was telling me on and on about how she had been using tumblr to keep and record her weight loss.  And that is when I started this blog.

I did well for a few months, reached some low weights I hadn’t seen in who knows how long.  Then, I got flakely again.  Then I put it all back on.

Currently I am sitting here at a weight which is probably 1kg below my highest weight.  114.3kg.  I would like to lose about a 1/3rd of that, as according to my BMI the highest weight for someone my height that is considered healthy is 76.4kg.

Clearly I am not impressed with my progress.  I seem to struggle with binge eating, and my routines seem to be break too easily.  But I am getting back into it.  I realise that it is not supposed to be an easy journey, because if it was then everyone else would have already done it.

Just wish I didn’t struggle so much.
